CHARLIE MASON

Although he can't sing (and, lucky for you, knows it) or play any instrument more complicated than a toaster, Charlie Mason has carved himself a unique niche in the recording industry as the go-to lyricist for an ever-growing network of blue-chip topliners and producers. How? He'd tell you he has no earthly idea, but it probably has something to do with the fact that when he's not setting words to music or writing words for his collaborators to set to music, he's thinking about doing one of those things or the other. That, or he's daydreaming about the alpaca farm he someday hopes to staff exclusively with adopted dachshunds. In any case, he's been lucky enough to score cuts with such international artists as Miley Cyrus, Eric Saade, Sarah Connor and Sergey Lazarev. If you're so inclined, you can read all about that below. Cheers!

television

Charlie's songs have been heard on series such as "Hannah Montana Forever" ("Kiss It Goodbye" by Miley Cyrus), "Gossip Girl" ("Leaving Is Easy" by Almost Charlie), "The Hills" ("Black Light" by Kaden), "A.N.T. Farm" ("Calling All the Monsters" and "Unstoppable" by China Anne McClain) and "Shake It Up" ("Calling All the Monsters" by China Anne McClain, "Just Wanna Dance" by Geraldo Sandell & Ricky Luna, and "Made in Japan" by Bella Thorne & Zendaya); and in commercials for ESPN2 and "Belgium's Next Top Model" ("All Eyes On Me" by Jameerah). He also co-wrote songs for the Disney Channel movies "Avalon High" ("Destiny" by Play) and "Lemonade Mouth" ("Determinate" by Bridgit Mendler and Co.).

Charlie himself has also appeared on VH1 and SOAPnet as a talking head. The rest of him did not speak.

film

Charlie's co-write, "U Got Me Good," recorded in English by Sheri for the Swedish movie "Snabba Cash," reached No. 2 on that country's singles chart. He also co-wrote "Firefly," which Jeronimo performed in the Dutch flick "Mijn Vader is een Detective: The Battle"; "Turn the Tide," which AiluCrash performed in the Swedish film "Jag Saknar Dig"; "You Become" for the Straight8 Festival entry "Life Is Beautiful"; "Worth the Journey" for another Straight8 Festival short; "I'll Still Be Missing You" for the thriller "The Marionette"; and "My Last Audition" for the showbiz short "Audition."

stage

You can thank your lucky stars that Charlie's zombie/vampire/werewolf/witch high school musical "The Dead Don't Date" has managed to never be staged. And he can thank his lucky stars that, in working on its demos, he got to hear Broadway babes like Tony nominee Kerry Butler ("Xanadu") and Amy Spanger ("Chicago") sing his characters.

He's also written more show tunes and novelty songs than either he or anyone else will ever need. One of them, "I'm a Nerd" by cabaret cut-up Joshua Desjardins, is "what could happen if a Weird Al Yankovic song got dunked in Europop," suggested music blog BillCS Is Tuned-On.

Latvian: Jenny May's Top 5 hit, "Es Gribu Vēl Mīlēt"
